A few years ago, FGW used to publish an excellent timetable which showed services on the Cornwall mainline, and crucially, how these used to connect with the various branch lines. This used to be invaluable when planning holiday trips, however, in the past couple of years or so, they seem to have given up on this and instead resorted to a load of individual route timetables which are practically useless because they don‘t show the connectons between.

Sort it out FGW and bring back the proper timetable.

You're referring to the old timetable B I think (5 of them used to cover the whole FGW network), now they are split into 35~ individual ones (numbered 1-40 with a few omissions). The current timetable 35 (I think it is) shows all services on the Cornish main line as well as brief timetables for the branches (e.g. departure times from Liskeard and arrival times at Looe and vice versa) if it helps.

Timetable 35 shows all the information you are looking for, regarding connections. I can scan a copy if you like.

Cheers for that. As I'm in darkest Cornwall away from a printer, they could do with having a few copies at the stations though.

Interestingly the PDF only shows the Gunnislake connection on the main line page. In the booklet it shows each of the branch connections in the same manner that Gunnislake is shown.

**I've just noticed my booklet expired 8th September 2013**

Where are you? Redruth station has copies of each of the timetable booklets.

If you can't see them on general display, ask at the booking office. Most usually have box after box of the things and given the branch line / touristy nature of Cornwall you will probably most stations have all the ones for Cornwall.

As I mentioned, they've got plenty of the individual route timetables, but not the one combining them all.

Timetable 35 will be available, it is advertised on the front as just Plymouth-Penzance but it has small branch line timetables inside. FGW used to produce booklets covering larger areas but they were changed to one per route as a result of passenger feedback, and it saves paper too, as people only need get the timetables they need, and not have a booklet with lots in it they don't need.

If you can't see it I'd ask at a booking office. When I was down there at the beginning of August they were everywhere!

I asked at Penzance and they didn't have any. However, next time I have the opportunity, I'll try and find a copy of Table 35 and check if its the one I‘m looking for.

The combined booklets were done away with as they were a waste of paper with most people obviously needing to take a whole book when the only table they actually needed was for a branch.

Didn't they also used to do separate mini-timetables based on the books? I'm sure I have seen timetables like 'B12: Truro-Falmouth' from 7-8 years ago.

A false economy IMO. If they were worried about saving paper, couldn‘t they have kept them with the ticket office staff to give to those who need them ?

From what I can gather they are doing away with all the little Timetables and issuing 3 Books to Cover all their services. (Alot like the ones from the Reading Diversions)

What you've said seems partially correct - they are now split into three regions (East for the Thames Valley, Central for Brissle and West for, er, the West), but still appear to feature separate timetables for individual lines within, albeit with many combined together that were previously separate. Link. Yorksrob will be pleased that the West 1 timetable includes all Cornish Main Line services plus the branch timetables too. Also of note are the incredibly basic yet probably useful to someone station plans that are included in the individual branch timetables.

As has been said, Timetables may be available in Booking Offices but they tend not to put them on display until the starting date. Ask and they will provide.
