That one sounds like a case for a permanently timetable coach service - even if it had to be reservation compulsory to manage numbers. Other countries do precisely that; we don’t seem to be able to.

There's a 2339 WM Trains service from Moor St to Leamington on Saturday nights, if you had a coach connection from there to serve Banbury/Oxford, it could well benefit late night passengers.
However, I'd imagine trying to find a willing coach supplier and driver might be a challenge (especially if it's picking up people who've had a few drinks in Birmingham).

Have been told whenever I've asked in the past that this is because Saturday nights are the only time they can do extended engineering work on the Leamington-Banbury-Oxford axis, due to it being required for freight the rest of the week.

Although Chiltern run a 2220ish from Moor St as far as Banbury on a Saturday night, it's still a lot earlier than the 2340ish of weeknights, and often means I'm forced to book a hotel in Birmingham after an event when I'd really just want to get a late train home!

That is correct, you don't get much access along there, though its now better with East West open.
