Are there plans to re-instate the double track from Glendon (Kettering North Jct) through to Corby?
If so when does work start as I may have a ride around the Kettering-Leicester via Manton section on Sunday to see if anythings been happening?

Well I went for a ride along the Manton-Kettering section yesterday, very pleasant, £12+ First class return from Leicester with railcard but I did get 3 cups of coffee and some EMT complimentaries.
It started in a rare manner for me in that a Cross Country Birmingham-Glasgow came non stop through the mainly southbound platform 3 heading northbound.
There is some tree and bush clearance work going on around Corby, also I noticed a Green/yellow cable in areas from Ashwell to Kettering.

On the curve between Glendon East and South there is quite a bit of track re-alignment going ahead, also north of Kettering station there are piles of new ballast and a few hundred sleepers.
I am not sure when the Manton box will disappear but the line could do with a few more signals each way between Manton and Kettering when it is doubled.

Manton's not going anywhere for a few years yet, but the Corby panel looks likely to be lost to Derby when the double tracking is completed. Either way, I understand that there is a proposal to split at least the long Corby to Manton section with one, maybe two, pairs of additional signals each way.

I know many years ago there was an Intermediate Block Signal (IBS){not irritable bowell syndrome} :) near to Glaston tunnel, also the box at Harringworth and also Saxby were kept in place but unmanned for years.
I did notice yesterday there are 2 ex-derailed wagons on the side of the embankment between Wing and Glaston tunnels, they must have been there 10 years, where are the scrap metal thieves when you need them? :)
