But I like it.
It's not too good if you wanna put up good quality images, as fotopic reduces the quality quite a bit.
It's easier than hosting your own site and all that though. It's good for lazy people.

As for Fotopic, its basic but acceptable
However, there are adverts and you don't make any of the revenue from it
Create a simple website on your ISP webspace, some now even provide gallery software to help you

I have seven Fotopic sites and they work alongside my websites
They are useful for posting images when out and about as upload is direct and quick

For everything else I use my ISP website at blueyonder which doesn't cost me anything and there are no forced adverts

I use piczo for my site. You can do all sorts on there. you can also include a paypal button, so people can buy some of your merchandise

If all you want to do (like me) is set up an easy-to-do site to host some phots on without being in the slightest worried about highest quality / seriously trying to sell stuff then IMO you can't beat fotopic. Its extremely user-friendly and easy/quick to update.

Your layout does need organizing, try using simple graphics etc

With respect mate, your site looks rather cluttered with the photos in the background. I know that some fotopic sites are the same, but I have to say that most fotopic sites look better.

I think Flickr is cheaper to upgrade (and you get unlimited limits mostly), which reminds me I need to renew mine soon.

1. There's nothing wrong with the quality of images the free version Fotopic reproduces. If its good enough for magazine editors to make a judgement on whether they want to buy a picture or not, I'm sure its fine for everyone else.

2. You can opt to have pictures at 100% quality on Fotopic if you want to.

3. You can put your own Adsense adverts on your Fotopic site and make money from them.

4. Generally custom sites lack (or have unfriendly/non-functioning) search boxes, which is no use if I want to find a picture of a particular train. This is one of Fotopic's best features.

5. Fotopic has a large online community and a decent support system. And the coding is way better than what I've seen on a lot of custom sites.

Yes but its a achievement that you have made a website, and that you have done the code yourself, of course there is always space for improvement but improving the site helps you improve your own skills on building websites.

And saying "yeah but you can just dump photos in and upload (Just an example)" is not really a an excuse really. Why? Well you can just use MySQL...

Oh I'm sure that's the case, but before they would make the site they would think about some way of hosting/show the photos...

Tom, from what I can see of your site, you are a very much a novice web designer.

You've hit the nail on the head with that second point Craig. Certain people think that you're not allowed to have an opinion on their custom made site unless you're a professional web designer.
