Hello,

As a recently qualified CPC Transport Manager, I’m looking for tips and advice as to the best ways to keep my bus knowledge up to date.

I subscribe to Coach and Bus Week but has anyone else got any other ideas and in particular Government policy. I am aware of the Bus Centre of Excellence.

Does this cover everything I need?

If you're an active Transport Manager named on an ops licence, you should be added to the email list for the Office of the Traffic Commissioner in Leeds. They send fairly regular emails out on changes to procedures and reminders. If you're not named on a licence, but want to stay informed, i'm sure they'll add you to the list on request if you explain your interest.

Continuing Professional Development can be met by going on one of the TM refresher courses every 3 to 4 years or more frequently if you think desirable. The key is to keep up to date with both the legislation and what is best practice. Do you get Route One magazine online? Mike Jewell’s column on legal matters is worth reading.

If you register and attend the webinar live you get a certificate of attendance that you can keep on your file as CPD evidence. The webinars are recorded so you can view back later and make a manual record that you've watched it back. Anyone is free to register. I have personally "attended" a number of webinars and can 100% recommend them.
