Travelled down to Euston from Cheshire on Friday, back on Monday. It was 'the slow train' - 14:25 Pendo from Wilmslow, stopping at Crewe, Lichfield TV, Tamworth, Nuneaton, Rugby, Northampton, and Milton Keynes. So it was not going very fast and was on the slow lines until Ledburn Junction, so I had plenty of time to look at the lineside scenery.

In the area of Ledburn Junction, just north of Cheddington, at least two of the containers blown of a train quite a while back are still there! Wonder why they've not been taken away for scrap (they are a bit bent!)?

It's not going to be a simple matter to recover freight containers from the middle of nowhere. Presumably they still belong to the freight leasing company, so I'm assuming it will be down to them to arrange for their disposal. Then again, I can't see the scrap value of these boxes recouping the costs of their recovery, so I don't expect they will be in any great rush.

Well you never know... someone I work with has a husband who works for a company who modify these shipping containers into storage facilities, offices and even toilets!

Probably a store point for the local maintenance guys. It's quite common to lay out a bag of keys every 1/4 mile, so the patrol has some easily available to replace those that are missing.

As for the containers, if they are bent up then they are probably no use and will be cut up for scrap and recovered during a scrap recovery drive {February/March ;)}

As TheSlash said, they are for the Railway contractors. There's a couple up by me, for rail maintenance, and also are getting the WCML up and down fast to be ready for 125MPH only
