At some point (I think between Tuesday 11th and Fri 14th April although could have been earlier) a container flat with container has been dumped in a siding at Theale. There aren't many container trains head this way so wondered the backstory to it being left there. Anyone have any info please?

Tuesday 11th April

4L32 1000 Wentloog - London Gateway

Trackside equipment in the Cholsey area flagged a possible wheel defect with the 26th wagon on the train. The train was stopped at driver asked to check their train, and on doing so did indeed find wheel damage on that wagon. The train was brought forward at very low speed to the Up Passenger Loop at Scours Lane and divided, with the loco and leading 25 wagons continuing to destination, and the remaining 5 wagons secured and left behind.

On Thursday 13th April those wagons were moved at very low speed to Theale to enable the damaged wagon to be left in the sidings for repair, and the remaining 4 wagons were then forwarded to Southampton Maritime on the Friday

This flat and container have now been moved down to the yard at Newbury Racecourse, together with a Hope Cement tanker and joining up with a Network Rail wagon that was left after the February line closure. Becoming quite a collection in an odd location.

Not great pics, but for the record
