Hi there!
I was hoping for some general advice really. I use the London network of trains/tubes very often for work/socialising.
I check my journeys often to ensure they are recorded correctly & I have paid the correct fares. The one in question below, I tapped in at Cannon Street in rush hour times (around 17:35 as usual) where the barriers are ALWAYS closed, meaning you would HAVE to tap a card or use a paper ticket to get through. However, the TFL contactless section is claiming I have an unfinished journey, which I do not understand how at all as this is the ONLY card I use to travel, and know for fact that I would have tapped in with it, there is no way to get through the barriers without it.
Anyway, my question is - if there was a random ticket inspection during this journey, would I have been written up because it would have picked up that I didn’t tap in? You will of course see in the screenshot that I tapped out at my usual station, in zone 5. I was charged max fare for this which is what prompted me to look into it, however I think it had since been balanced out, I didn’t request a refund or action anything for this journey.

Thanks all!

Maybe you accidentally tailgated someone on the barrier? To answer your question, if a ticket check came up you'd be fine but be charged a maximum fare for a 'failed revenue inspection' later on

With contactless you wouldn't be in trouble if checked on the train. The RPI can't see whether or not you've touched in. It would result in a failed revenue charge as mentioned by kacper.

Have you looked on your journey history (note not payment history) to see if it has been corrected? If it hasn't then you should be able to tell TfL where the journey started and they'll credit back the difference in charges.

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes I have checked my account and my journey has been auto corrected (I guess based on my usual journey) and so I did receive some money back as I was charged the max fare. Just wanted to be sure if it happened again, though I am extra vigilant which is why I was surprised. Thanks again & take care!
