There is also some issue with train length going on to Ardwick too - locos, barrier wagons and 2 x 350's wouldn't fit in.

Understandable. From the video I saw, the formation had shed loads of barrier wagons in it, including a few between the two 350's themselves!

I'm not entirely sure - I asked the same question last night. Gut feeling would be that a lot will (probably have to) come off, but I did hear mumblings that they would move onward under their own power

Are they going under their own power to Ardwick, or is the 92 taking them in their current consist?

Single unit just left LOC bound for EDB about 1 min down, don't know which one as seen from a bedroom window! Shall have a wee ride on it on the return journey this morning.

19 down arriving at Edinburgh but started back on time and at Carlisle despite "electrical supply problems at Lockerbie".
So all the TP electric routes are now christened.
Will they fit in a second round trip today (1400 Manchester Airport-Edinburgh, 2012 return)?

Last time I was in Scotland, "electrical supply problems" turned out to be failure of the station lighting! :roll:

Well bagged 350403 from Manchester Airport to Manchester Oxford Road, very nice unit. Staff onboard seemed to be getting used to the new trains with a man showing a lady (whom I assume was the train manager) around and looking in the cupboards etc. cleaners at MIA also as they were walking through were commenting on the new train! Much quieter than I thought they would be, stark contrast to the pacer I had just got off!

When I got off at MCO a group of young men excited ran onboard with cameras around their necks, so photos may well appear over the next couple of days.

The working from MIA arrived (11 late) and Open Train Times are showing it as in platform 14 now so looks as if it will run back down to manchester airport and then it'll probably be ECS to Ardwick

Ah, that explains my slight bemusement at seeing an Edinburgh train advertised at Dewsbury then!

Btw, does anyone know what has happened to 350402 in all of this? I don't seem to have heard about it for quite some time.

350404/405 are still attached to their barrier vehicles at Trafford Park, according to a friend who passed there earlier on

Gods honest truth I can't think of a less inspiring replacement of traction than replacing 185's with 350's since they replaced 50's with 47's on some trips down south. Unless we go really mad and consider various 150's replacing 37' and 31's etc.

It's a stop-gap the 350s will, almost certainly, be replaced by something more suitable in within the next 5/6 years or so. The only other alternative would have been 319s which would certainly have been a step down compared to the 185s and also would not yet be available so we'd not be able to get the advantage of the released 185s for some time yet.

Absolutely mate. I was just having a timely moan about things not being what they once were, ha ha. At the end of the day the service is a lot better than it used to be so I should stop moaning.

Agreed. It is more or less hourly now rather than 3 or 4 per day, but why does Liverpool get short changed? There must now be the option of coupling 2 units at Wigan or Preston, one from each of Liverpool and MIA, 8-car to Carstairs, then splitting again for Edinburgh and Glasgow. Some passengers would have to change sets within the train on route but it would provide a huge improvement in journey opportunities.

There is a probability of TPE running Liverpool to Scotland services when they get more EMUs in a few years' time.
