I went to Waterloo Station today and heard a lot of construction going on as well as there being scaffold on the balcony above the waiting areas. What's happening? Roof strengthening?

They're replacing / renewing the glass roof.

There's also work going on in the units behind the concourse / balcony. Allegedly because there was a problem with fire compartmentation which was missed when the units were created only a few years ago. Hence the extended closure of the bigger M&S store.

Can anyone shed any light on why the toilets are taking so long to do? When you look at shopping centers and things that do toilet refurbishments within sort of six or eight weeks I'm absolutely amazed at the amount of time this and indeed other projects on the network rail managed estate have taken in recent times, the ones at Edinburgh Waverley for example took forever and to be honest the finished product isn't all that great with tiles coming off and bits that don't work

I noticed the other day that the Foyles bookshop has finally reopened, but no sign of life (or of work) in the large M&S. Network Rail march to the beat iof their own drum and are accountable to no one according to an irate passenger who harangued me briefly outside the aforementioned M&S!

Late September is the pencilled date for reopening of the big M&S, told that by someone from their head office recently.

i blame my wife, who was Sounding off (quietly) about how long the M&S has been closed. The gentleman then let rip, but in a friendly, non threatening way. One thing whic worries me is that I actually agreed with pretty much everything he said.
