My train from Morecambe this morning was late and I missed my connection at Lancaster to Preston, now waiting for the next one. Will subsequently miss my Lime Street connection at Preston.

My tickets are Advances, Morecambe to Lime Street, all on Northern so I’m not too worried about that, and Lime Street to Hereford via Birmingham on WMR.

I’m not going to make my booked train from Lime Street, so is it safe to assume I can get the next one using the same ticket?

You can get the next train that fulfills any restrictions on your original ticket i.e. routing or operator. If in doubt, ask staff. But as long as you use the next available WMR service from Lime St you are OK - they should be aware of the disruption but if not can check it easily.

In practice it takes a lot less than 10 minutes to change between "high level" trains at Lime Street. I suspect the minimum interchange time was determined more with changes between "high level" and Merseyrail trains in mind.

Good point. The trick on high level is to not get stuck behind a crowd exiting the gates. Arriving on 5, departing from 6. So near and yet so far!

Just my luck, PRE-LIV is 6 late. Hopefully it won’t get any later en route!
