Hi - long-time lurker who has finally got round to registering to seek some advice.
On 11 December, I purchased two advance tickets using the Chiltern website for a Welshpool-Euston journey on 1 January as below:
10:56 Welshpool - Wolverhampton 12:11
12:25 Wolverhampton - Stafford 12:37
12:42 Stafford - Euston 14:00

I picked up these tickets a couple of days ago, and the reservation coupon lists those three trains. Idly checking the journey just now on RTT, I noticed that the 10:56 from Welshpool appears to have been re-timed later in its journey (seemingly as a result of now calling all stations between Telford and Wolverhampton) and is now scheduled to arrive into Wolverhampton at 12:46, obviously too late for the onward connection to Stafford. I'm assuming this is a late alteration caused by the New Street-Wolverhampton engineering works. The ticket retailer obviously has my email address, but hasn't alerted me in any way to this problem (obviously, it's not one of their trains, but still...)

What's my best bet here?
Is it to
a) catch the 10:56 and ask the guard to endorse the tickets for travel on later services to Stafford and Euston? (And presumably then seek to claim compensation on the basis that the next service via that route won't arrive in Euston until 15:04.)
b) Catch the previous service from Welshpool to Wolverhampton (changing at Shrewsbury) at 09:55, hoping the guard on those trains will be ok with that (decidedly sub-optimal as this involves hanging around at Wolverhampton for more than an hour).
c) Contacting the TOC (and should that be Chiltern as the retailer or ATW as the one with the changed train times) and asking them to issue new tickets - ideally for free, given the pretty cheap Advance fares I bought have long since sold out?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Your options are either to:

1) Claim a full refund on your ticket - and either not travel or buy new tickets.
2) Travel on an earlier service as you indicate.
3) Travel on the original booked train and claim delay repay.

I would go with 3)

Unless your arrival time is critical I’d agree with the above and stick to the booked trains, claiming delay repay afterwards.
