Connections at Brussels Midi / Zuid

Going to change trains at Brussels Midi from Eurostar to ICE.

At Brussels, has the useful short cut connection between the Eurostar and other platforms been re-instated ? I've used it before, but then they closed it.

Or do you have to leave the Eurostar platforms by the general exit, then down the stairs and into the main concourse.

But thanks for that and good to know. As a precaution, I booked a seat in one of the front carriages of the Eurostar. So should be one of the first passengers off the platform area down the stairs and onto the concourse.

does either of you find the interior of the eurostar out-dated and uncomfortable?

I am doing a similar route (Dusseldorf - Koln - Brussels - St Pancras - Rugby) next week. I have done it before and the only time I've felt uncomfortable (coccyx ache) is after the eurostar. I'm then in pain for the remainder of my journey.

Ever felt that? or is it just me?

I've never had a problem like that on Eurostar - although I have had back problems quite frequently on the Mk4s ( and ECML HSTs ) since they fitted the "Mallard" interiors.

Anyway, back on topic, Brussels Zuid, pretty awful station really. Going north, it takes forever to get out of the city too. So many congested tunnels and ropey old stations. OK for Eurostar going south though
