Starting with the December timetable a new connection possibility has arisen, as a Hull trains London service will leave Beverley at 08:10, and call at Cottingham at 08:16. The train from home passes through at 08:10, so a 6 minute connection, its same platform, just get of the train and wait for the next train, with a 6 minute wait. If you change at Beverley its up and over the footbridge, so that will eat into time, and Hull will be a different platform so would be too tight a connection as well.

So two questions, what is the minimum connection time for stations that dont have an advertised connection time? (Thinking if delays occur, would I be covered on an advance tickets) and secondly, why cant the journey planners pick up on simple changes and offer them, even if its an alternative that you select.

The default minimum connection time is 5 mins unless stated otherwise.

I agree that Cottingham (7min in fact) is the obvious choice, but you have 16min at Hull which might be useful if the Scarborough is delayed and the HT leaves to time.

I remember changing from a Pwllheli-Machynlleth train onto an Aberystwyth-Shrewsbury working at Dovey Jn to try and avoid crossing the footbridge at Machynlleth (and also “tick” Dovey Jn)
