Geordie back from exile.
only the southbound 17.10 off piccadilly stopped.....for the commuters and it also stopped at bramhall of all places !!
Nope.

There was an 0903 off Paddington, stopping at Congleton at 1244 arriving Piccadilly at 1322. This was Monday - Saturday.

Southbound was as you say 1710 off Piccadilly, stopping at Congleton at 1739 and into Paddington at 2136. Also Monday - Saturday

Neither of these services stopped at Bramhall in the timetable I am looking at for 2001. Both services were operated by Virgin.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
During the day ive often been the only person getting on a train southbound.:( we have no pay machines and no destination displays and is a haven for local youth at night

Let me apologise to you if my remarks seemed straight out of the National Rail boardroom. They were not intended to be that way. It is just unfortunate that I hold the views about TfGM funding that I do.

It was your posting of this thread in the first place which shows that you obviously have very deep feelings of annoyance about the situation with off-peak rail provision at Congleton station and I sympathise with your final statement above with the station being a haven for the local youth at night.

Consider my neck well and truly wound in!!!:oops::oops:

Used this station a few times, the underground walkways are abit of an eyesore but the rest is fine.. Nothing wrong there, Like someone said Macclesfield is the next stop, I really like that station.

???? IIRC there aren't any underground walkways at Congleton station.

There's a bridge between the two platforms - which is on the station and there are exits from both platforms - is it one of the pathways outside the station you're thinking of?
