Hi

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem i have

Im due to travel to liverpool from wolverhampton this afternoon

When i booked the tickets it was thought that london midland
were going to go on strike, so the software planned a convuluted
route for me and i got seats reserved.

I paid the full price for the ticket (28.50) and in my email it says
;off peak return, via crewe'

but it has seat details too.

Now the strike is off, i want to get the direct train (which is still via crew)

but london midland wont let me amend my booking online, and after foning them they werent able to tell me if the ticket was valid for that journey

So basically its a standard off peak return, but i have seats held.. can i use them on the earlier service?. It will get me there 2 hours earlier so it would be a lot better

Thanks.

Does the ticket state valid only with the seat reservation?

If not then you can travel on any route permitted.

For example if I booked seats to travel from Cheltenham to Birmingham on say the 10:12 XC service I could board the 10:42 if I wanted as the ticket is valid without seat reservations.

Hi

It says

OFF-PEAK R

ROUTE: VIA CREWE (it always says that, the direct train goes through crewe)

then it shows a convuluted route using 3 trains on different operators (because of expected strike) and my seat reservations.

And it says just the day i intend to return. Its not an advance ticket-

I guess if the ticket just prints out as 'off peak return' and doesnt show train details ill be fine

Ive never booked online before though so dont know if the reservation etc prints seperately.

Thanks by the way, i just wanna get to liverpool to see my GF as early as possible, but not at the cost of another 28.50 ticket ;). I think using your example im fine to get the direct train

Cheers

Then yes you can use any Off-Peak train so long as it stops at Crewe

Or even just go through Crewe non-stop :)

But yes, unless it states "Valid only with reservation" the reservation doesn't limit you to particular trains. Only Advance tickets have this restriction. The reservation will be printed on a different ticket anyway.

Just out of interest, why book in advance? Were you worried the complicated route would be questioned if you didn't have reservations? Sounds like pretty poor customer service from LM if they couldn't tell you if your ticket was valid - it's hardly a complicated question!

You can get any train after 0900 M-F, and any train weekends & bank holidays, providing you go via Crewe (you do not need to call at Crewe, you can get a fast train from Liverpool to Stafford and change there, this goes through Crewe).

A direct London Midland train would also go via Crewe.

You can return any day within 1 calendar month.
