Conflicting rail timetable data from various sources

Hello,

I'm presuming that countrywide timetable data is pulled from somewhere depending on travel origin and destination.

However, the conflict leads me to think that there is more than one database system being hooked into when I interrogate any of the 6 or so ticket sites or that one is slower to update...........

The following matching sets of times/sites have matched each other but not the other set....


Match set A
1 Nationalrail journey planner
2 All of the other sites (about 4) not mentioned in set B


Match set B
1 National rail website - only the "pocket timetable" generated PDF
2 National express website Rochford to denmark hill ticket time and routes summary.
3 The trainline.com

Logic tells me that the official group, nationalrail should be correct, but its contradicting itself.

Why is it even an issue to me......well I wanted to get the first of 2 consecutive "2 change" trains just in case it was cancelled so I could get the next "2 change" train.... Silly, I know, but I'm not a great traveller and I have only been on 2 trains in about 10 years.

Attached jpeg shows Top = nationalrail journey planner and bottom = nationrail pocket timetable pdf.

Any thoughts, in-the-know(ledge) would be very handy.

I don't know the details, but I'd suggest that they're both 'correct', in that both sets of journeys can be made.

If you click on the information for the 07:02 departure out of Rochford on the Nat Rail website, you'll see that it is sending you via the Jubilee Line from Stratford to London Bridge, then by rail to Peckham Rye and on to Denmark Hill.

The pocket timetable is sub-headed "via Liverpool Street and Farringdon"; hence it only shows those journeys and no others. So your route via London Bridge etc is not on there.

Now WHY they do this, I don't know, but it may be something to do with the different expected tube connection times that each planner uses...

I don't think the timetable is conflicting. It's just different advice.

There is a service every 30 mins from Kentish Town to Kent which calls at St Pancras, Farringdon, City Thameslink, Blackfriars, Elephant & Castle, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and stations to Sevenoaks.

There is a service every 30 mins from London Bridge to London Victoria, via Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill and various other stations.

There is a service every 30 mins that runs fast from Victoria (which is far out of your way), non-stop to Denmark Hill, then Peckham Rye and stations to Dartford via Bexleyheath.

There are additional trains at peak times.

Changing at Blackfriars isn't an option because of the closure of the circle line platforms until next year.

If you get the 0702 from Rochford, that gets to Stratford (SRA) at 0745 and is due into Liverpool St (LST) 0757 (but it'll be early into LST if it's on time at SRA). Changing at SRA onto the Jubilee to London Bridge is an option, you have a chance of making the 0810 from LBG to Denmark Hill arriving 0822, however you'll need to be quick changing trains! If you miss it (which is likely unless you jog and get off by the nearest doors to the exits), the wait at London Bridge is 30 minutes for a direct train but you can get the 0821 changing at Peckham Rye (0827 - 0833) onto a Dartford-Victoria service, arriving 0836. Waiting for the direct train at 0841 from LBG would give an arrival time of 0853 at Denmark Hill.

Alternatively you can stay on to Liverpool St (arrival time today was 0752), and you will have loads of time to spare to get the 0821 from Farringdon to Denmark Hill (arr 0837). However the journey planners don't suggest that as 30 mins is not considered enough time to do a 'cross London transfer' so they suggest the 0833 from Farringdon which gets to Denmark Hill 0852.
