Conductor/Guard Bristol FGW

Hi All,
I an new here and would like to thank you all for sharing your experience ,I would like to know møre as I have been offered a Conductor job in bristol.
How long is the training for conductor ? How many hours do they work and what kind of rota is it likely to be? is it 5 out of 7 days?
monthly or weekly pay?

Congratulations.

Four weekly pay (13 a year).
35 hour a week rota, averaged over however many weeks are in the link, so a few weeks have extra days off (or even week off every few months). Minimum of two days off a week, but one of these is always Sunday, and there are booked Sundays which you are expected to work as overtime.

Training I'm not sure, I'm a TM.

Pay is every four weeks. You get paid from when you book on until when you book off, minimum eight hour pay for Sunday / Rest day. Overtime is time and 1/4 (I think), I'm not 100% on that.

Bank holidays are not extra pay, except for any that are covering Xmas Day / Boxing Day (both of which are guaranteed off).

Each one is different, TM's and conductors do have a slightly different job & routes, you'll find it all out when you start.

training will prob be a bit longer than a Tm as you will sign more traction and the rules course is the same, I dont think fgw train tm's below the sole bar any more and dont have to emergency couple as its a fitters job now

No, we don't do shunting or the bar any more.
