Conductor Blackpool North old TPE route.

Hi guys long time listener, first time caller.

So I applied for Northern for trainee conductor about 3 weeks ago, got an email last Monday (27/03) inviting me to an assessment centre which was this Monday(03/04), thought it didn't go too well as I fluffed a few of the questions, but the interviewer was a really nice guy and very easy to get on with, so the experience on the whole was very good and I put it down as good to get interview experience under my belt as I'd not had an interview in a fair few years..

I got the suprising but brilliant phone call Yesterday saying I'd been successful and starting on a course on May 8th (subject to medical & reference) Was absolutely delighted and means for once my New Year's resolutions I've actually stuck to haha.

Reading this forum I thought the process would be a bit longer, but they must be in need to fill the position.

When HR rang me Yesterday she told me I'd be working on the old TPE route with their working conditions being slightly different. Can anyone enlighten me as to what that means? Does that mean the shift patterns are different, she did mention certain pay is different but this is balanced by the diffirence in comission.

Cheers guys and can't wait to start my railway career, medical Tomorrow, so no beer whilst watching the football Tonight haha.

That's good to hear that you have got the job! I also applied for this few weeks ago and my application still says in progress so I am hoping more jobs or courses might be available at a later date. Hope it all goes well for you?

It means you'll be going to the Airport at lot! ??????

Traction is 153, 156 and 185 working between Blackpool North, Manchester Airport, Barrow and Windermere.

You get paid more basic and more commission. The guy you were interviewed by will probably be your manager.

Yea I thought as much when he said he'd been TUPEd over, more then happy with that as he seemed a nice guy. Cheers for the info guys. Few weeks at work left then it's a new start, can't wait!
