Hi Guys,

I have previously been through the driver assessments twice in the last 2 years and got the dreaded borderline pass each time!!!

Now thinking of going down the conductor route. Was wondering if people could advise me as to what assessments conductors sit and also is there practise material out there? I have the GB/SCATT practise tool. It would be Northern I go for.

Thanks in advance for peoples help. Much appreciated.

Rory

It would be my pleasure. In my experience, stage 1 consists of:

  • Group Bourdon concentration test
  • RAAT
  • Ticket Selling Test
  • Ticket Checking Test

Stage 2 featured a role play, which I failed, followed by the conductor CBI. There does not seem to be so much coverage on here about the conductor CBI but I would expect questions about working to rules and procedures and examples of when you have provided excellent customer service. No doubt you will be asked how you felt about these instances, there will be a reason for these repeated seemingly inapt questions as you are probably aware.

Going back to stage 1, the rules test (RAAT) consists of a number of scenarios followed by multiple choice questions. Even if you were to avail yourself of practice material, you would find that the two ticket tests in the assessment seem to have additional rules for the purchase of tickets which will slow you down on the day.

I myself have just gone down that route, and I start training in 3 weeks!! The role play isnt applicable any more.....and you do get practise material sent to you if you pass the interview stage.
