Best thing to do is set up job alerts on the recruitment website. The recruitment is sporadic at the best of times and vacancies only usually stay up for a couple of days dependent on how many people apply. I think London Midland have a depot at Crewe also if you're wanting to get on.

Only honest advice I can give is to carry on living your life as normal and forget all about it until they contact you (easier said than done I know) 5 months in a talent pool really is a drop in the ocean.

Railway HR is notoriously slow and unpredictable...... For example people have almost forgotten they were even in a talent pool then they get a random phone call at half 3 on a Wednesday asking if they can start in a few weeks!......... another unfortunate reality is some people sit in talent pools and never actually receive the call and have to go through the whole process again as their tests run out.

Sorry If this isn't as positive as you were hoping for i juSt thought id be honest....but on the flip side some in talent pools have almost got instant starts! Fingers crossed it happens to you!

Good luck!

And in this case, even HR probably won't be able to give you an answer. They'll most likely take on again when they have vacancies again, and until that happens they probably won't - and it's impossible to predict for certain when those vacancies will occur. I know it's probably a frustrating time for you, and it would be great for you to have a definite start date, but as I've told you before you are still much better off than the vast majority of people who've applied for the positions!

Hello Spikey,

I used to work for ATW and was in the Talent pool for 1 year. I would ring around every 3 months to ask what is going on. They forgot I was in the talent pool and advertised again when they had me and a few others sitting waiting. Some are luckier than others waiting a few weeks or months only, just be prepared for the long wait!

Good luck and I hope they contact you soon to start. Good bunch of people at ATW and always had a good time there.

Nope, I moved to Manchester with the mrs and to try to become a Train Driver. So just waiting patiently. I have passed all the tests etc so it makes it slightly easier!

The talent pools are annoying but when you do get confirmation its the best feeling so keep on to them. It will be worth the wait!
