if you were to have an application in with two TOC’s at the same time, what would happen if you were to fail one part of one application (not assessment centre stage)?

My question is would a fail with one TOC result in having to withdraw from the other TOC application process?

I do not believe it would, TOC do not share their list of candidates with other TOC..

Bit of a tough one, surely you'd then be under the category of failig any part of the train driver assessments within 6 months and unable to progress?

Unless it's the DMI stage failed I think they'd check on the RSSB database then realise

Well he said not at the assessment centre stage, so it shouldn't matter at all. There are plenty of people on here that have had multiple applications in with different TOCs and not progressed with one or more of them, but have gone on to get a position with another.

I think he will be fine

Yeah you're right, would help if I read it thoroughly before posting.

That being the case, you'll be absolutely fine with concurrent applications.

You can have as many applications in as you wish, and not making the sift for one, won’t affect the other. You can only do one assessment centre at a time though.

Would you think that includes the first stage of tests that people like the opc now ask you to sit ? Ie the mj7. Vse ?

It’s only the OPC ones you need to worry about. Fail one of them it would rule you out of all applications. Also they pick up on the fact you have more than one ongoing and force you to choose. A rule that makes no sense to me. As long you only sit them all once it shouldn’t be an issue. Since it’s the same tests and valid for all TOCs.

ohh ! That could be an issue. So even if you pass all the assessments and 5 months later a different company advertises you can’t re-do the tests ?
I think this is all getting a bit silly

You won’t need to retake any tests (including the VSE etc) if you pass them. If you fail, then yes, you’d have to wait 6-months.

Just spoke to the guy in charge of our recruitment and as vt do a cbi instead of the mmi I would have to resit that. Only problem is my file would then update to having a cbi pass not a mmi so I could potentially have to sit it again or be ineligible for freightliner.

You got to laugh

So, do we think that a fail at a DMI with one TOC, would jeopardise an application with another TOC that is running concurrently? I’m confused

Yes 100% and they even say your results are only the results of the last Time you say the process.
Here at vt a guy passes to another toc and re sat one here and failed it and was thrown out of both.
I believe the non assessment tests are different ie vse m7 etc

Even a pass from a mmi to a cbi could result in it being no longer valid for a toc. As in if they want a cbi but your last was a mmi then tough you can’t have both passes on file just the last one you sat ! So if that’s a mmi you resit that

So what’s the difference between the CBI and MMI? I know that the CBI is competency based, but is that not just what a DMI is?
