I was recently in conversation with a friend who told me that the other day he and his partner travelled by train from the Fylde Coast (Poulton-le-Fylde I think) to Manchester. He said the ticket office at the station was closed and they had to pay on the train. When the conductor came round, my friend, who is an OAP, asked if he could use his Lancashire County Council Nowcard (bus pass) on the train. 'Yes, no problem' says the conductor and gives him a ticket with 'amount paid nil' printed on it, or somthing similar. His partner had to pay the full fare as she is not an OAP. I know that the Greater Manchester OAP bus pass is valid on trains within the GM area but I didn't think the Lancashire County Council Nowcard passes were valid on the trains. Have the rules changed, or did this conductor drop a clanger?
