Concessionary Bus Pass while waiting for DLA/PIP renewal

My wife has a concessionary bus pass which expires next month.

She is waiting for her DLA (now PIP) to be renewed, we've still to hear about that.

When we reach the bus pass deadline and not got the renewal through, is there anything we can do?

Can we contact NYCC and apply for a temporary extension or anything?

Any help much appreciated.

This is why I always tell my passengers to start renewing 3 months in advance.

Is she in receipt of the benefit presently?

Can a doctor certify the form for her (remember she can get ENCTS if she has been or would be refused a driving licence, which the doctor can certify.

You can try continuing to use the pass, but make sure to have money ready incase it is declined.

If it's just a renewal or a switch from a current DLA claim to PIP, then I don't think it should be a problem, if it was a brand new claim then it might cause problems seeing as technically your wife wouldn't have been awarded it yet.

Also the local council will already have the information from the previous Bus Pass application form so I doubt that would have to change.

Surely you could just go ahead and apply for it now?

The relevant authorities would be informed if your wife was not to be in receipt of the pass.

We have the bus pass renewal papers which arrived yesterday. We applied for it about 3 months ago but they only extended the pass to the DLA renewal date.

Her DLA claim 'expires' next month so we have to essentially reapply but we're under PIP rules now. She's had to fight to get DLA before, we've got someone helping us with the forms for PIP so hopefully he may know how we go about it but we aren't seeing him until later this month.

The form does say evidence of the benefit is needed but obviously we can't provide that dated after next month. Apparently the PIP renewal can take 26 weeks (longer if we have to go to medicals, etc)

We use the bus pass to save around £20 per week (more if my wife uses it to hospital appointments, etc) so it is important to us to get it renewed if at all possible.

Is it worthwhile giving NYCC a call to see what they say?
