3 don't call at Taunton.One that surprises me is Manningtree. As for others, Plymouth, Liskeard, Bodmin, St A,Truro, Redruth, York, Penzance (obviously!)

manningtree - the smallest town in england - except for the morning peaks, all Norwich-Liv St call there! Liskeard and Bodmin are passed n/s with some XC HST Summer Newquays that call at either Bodmin and Liskeard or Par oly on route to Plymouth

There's pretty much no mainline compulsory stops left in Scotland. AFAIK it's Waverley, Glasgow Central/QS, Perth, Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeen.

Falkirk G/High, Stirling, gleneagles?, Pitlochry, Kingussie, Aviemore, Arbroath and Kirkcaldy and Inverkeithing, Leuchars used to be

Kirkcaldy and Inverkeithing no longer have everything stopping, IIRC Leuchars has *one* train a day that doesn't stop (presumably a pathing issue)

The hourly Scotrail service from Aberdeen to Edinburgh is non-stop Leuchars - Haymarket (apart from in hours when East Coast run and stop at Kirkcaldy/ Inverkeithing). Catches a few passengers out

Suprised me today on Watford Jn, there's one LM service each hour NB and SB that dont call, Northampton-all stations to Leighton Buzzard-next stop Euston. Strange.

Falkirk G gets stops cancelled from time to time (does that count); High is comuplsory; Gleneagles isn't; Pitlochry, Kingussie, Stilring and Aviemore are all compulsory. Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy and Arbroath aren't any more with the (Edinburgh/Glasgow -) Dundee - Aberdeen non-stoppers and the new Edinburgh - Dundee services covering stops skipped by the Aberdeens and Inverness trains

Just to clear up confusion, the 1535 and 1635 from Waterloo divide at Southampton and the front portion of these services do stop at Brockenhurst, it's only the front portions of the 1705, 1735 and 1835 that don't stop at Brockenhurst. Going the other way, the 0555 and 0625 from Weymouth and the 0611 from Poole are the fast services.

Most of the Liverpool Street - Peterborough/Lowestoft trains do not stop at Manningtree, and there's also one or two other services in the peak periods.

I've noticed that all trains call at Romsey station, although the town itself only has a population of 17,000. From memory SWT's Summer Saturday Brighton - Paignton service was the only train not scheduled to call at Romsey.

All services now call at Salisbury: the only services which didn't stop at Salisbury were Wales & Borders West Wales - Waterloo services.

Westbury, Frome and Weston Super Mare because in each case any trains that don't stop at them go on the line that doesnt go through the station. Does that count?

The line from Basingstoke to Exeter has a load of stations in the middle of nowhere that all trains stop at.

Edit: just looked at the timetable and there are some crazy middle of the night stopping patterns on that line, so only Crewkerne really counts as a small place with all trains stopping.

The line from Basingstoke to Exeter has a load of stations in the middle of nowhere that all trains stop at.

If some didnt call, they'd just wait at yeovil Jn for 10 mins for the line to cear anyway

Stockport is brilliant for connecting onto other places. I'm so glad I live in Derbyshire and not Sheffield anymore. Despite being bigger Sheffield is pretty rubbish compared to Stockport, no trains to North Wales/Crewe etc. I live 2 miles from a station to take me to Sheffield and 15 minutes walk from Chapel en le Frith station to Stockport and beyond, you can't beat it. Top location for transport (except at late night!!)

I've only seen one XC train pass through Stockport and even then it went through very slowly and being so close to Manchester Picc it means trains are frequent.

I can't think of many either. Oddly enough, Stirling (despite being a pretty big city and important railway hub) does have one service which doesn't call and that's always surprised me. (It's the 16:41 GLQ-ABD SX; presumably to stop people travelling to Stirling on this train).

I'm curious to see how the calling pattern for Airdrie-Bathgate services works out. That might create some interesting "compulsory stops" such as Coatdyke (for Monklands Hospital).

I'm pretty sure that there's an East Coast service that doesn't call there? 1518-ish to Glasgow? No idea why.

Someone mentioned Derby earlier. I'm sure a morning Northern service to Nottingham is (or was) booked non-stop via Derby - I've certainly seen one pass through non-stop in the morning.

Not sure what a 'compulsory' stop station is myself - even if nothing is booked non-stop, it doesn't mean that every train *has* to stop there! An example of a station where every train *has* to stop might be Ambergate, in order to withdraw or restore the token for the branch.

I know 2 Glasgow-Eusto trains dont: one is Carlisle, Oxenholme and Preston, the other carlisle, penrith and Preston Some late night tPE go via Wigan NW, not Bolton, dunno if they stop or not
