Got another strange one for you! I am meeting a few friends for a football match i have got my tickets but i am trying to help some mates out. The match is on January 8th from Glasgow to Burton on Trent arriving at about 1130 -1300 and setting off 1730 with a disabled persons rail card

AND

On the same day a return with a young persons railcard from Paignton for the same times (or Newton Abbott if need be!) to Burton on Trent direct if possible . I have had a look but am really confusing myself over routes timings etc:roll:

Thanks in advance

If booking Advance fares, if there are no decent through fares to Burton, try splitting at somewhere like Birmingham.

If you want walk-on fares, the furthest you can get at a reasonable price from Glasgow is to Preston. Bizarrely, Preston to Burton is cheaper than Preston to Tamworth. I don't think getting LM only cheap fares between Crewe & Tamworth/Birmingham is going to be worth the hassle.

From Paignton/Newton Abbot, the usual splitting points are places like Exeter, Taunton, Bristol, Cheltenham, Birmingham.

I have been messing about with fares and cant beat £58.50 for the Paignton - Burton return and £75.00 for the Glasgow-Burton section.

Can anyone do any better? Help & thanks in advance!
