At some point Woking's platforms were renumbered. When I was a boy, there was a bay platform 1 and the up slow platform was number 2. That bay platform was eliminated a long time ago and the platform numbers were changed accordingly.

Yes indeed, but the renumbering didn't happen until many years after the disapperance of platform 1. If my memory is correct, it was then not many more years until the middle bay platform (3) was added and the down platforms reverted to their old numbers.

Leeds went through a renumbering in 1967 when Central closed at the Wellington platforms were turned over to parcels. Platforms 1-6 were taken out of passenger use, a new P1 was built (currently P4), P7 became P2, etc.
And further renumbered as part of the early 2000s rebuild which added additional bays and 16 and 17

Ah, thank you. I didn't know that.

I don't know the exact dates, but I grew up in the 1970s and 80s using Woking station from time to time (we lived further up the line towards London), and I don't remember the old platform 1 at all (https://www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk/collections/getrecord/SHHER_MSE23159 says it was removed in 1968), but throughout much of that time the through platforms were still numbered 2-5; I'd guess the first renumbering was probably sometime in the second half of the 80s. Neither can I remember when the middle bay was addded as platform 3, necessitating the second renumbering of the down platforms, but I'd guess maybe the second half of the 1990s. (I'm sure someone on these forums must know).
