Number 13, for the sense of scale brought about by the locomotive being dwarfed by the West Highland scenery and for the crisp contrast of colour that has been achieved, which I would never be able to do with my humble compact digital so it is a pleasure to see a picture that has done so. I also have a deep seated love for the Gresley K1 and K4 classes :)

There are a number of good entries this week, as is usually the case, so well done to all who have entered.

Agree there Sprinterguy, absolutely lovely picture isn't it. Number 13 for me too :)

Excuse my ignorance, still relatively new to the world of train photography, but does a loco with support coach count as light engine?

That would be a good shot of any engine, but to have it as a Deltic makes it even more special. Great shot.

I came second :D I think that's the closest I've come to a victory in this competition so far. Well done to willig on his winning entry.

I've never submitted any of my photography and I don't intend to either!

Anyway, well done to Willig. I've seen plenty of Deltic photos but there's a nice angle to that one.

I like to see photos that capture the spirit of that week's particular theme as well as being well composed, and while I do sometimes wonder at the reasoning behind certain photos share of the votes this is very rarely/never the case with the winning entries each week which are almost uniformly deserving of that status.

It's also worth remembering that at the end of the day this competition is just a bit of fun, and is at the mercy of the personal taste of the individuals who vote!

I know it is in the spirit of fun :) (quickly hides the knife to stab someone behind my back :))
