Numer 7 for me, it was almost number 8 but I just felt that number 7 has a better use of the rule of thirds.

A point of order, Class 90s were not built before the 1980s and for the sake of pedantry about half the HSTs were also built after 1980.

I don't really think that number 10 quite fits the criteria of "Built before 1980".
Class 90s built 1987-90 if I remember correctly ?

Yes this is correct, and the owner of the photo has been in touch, it was a mistake. 10 has been disqualified

I found myself also torn between 7 and 8, however I'm going to pick 8 because, clag in 7 aside, the light is far better and more pleasing in number 8. Number 7's a good shot though still.

Sorry to poop, but I thought most of this weeks were dull, standard (if well taken) shots. I voted for 2 because it had imagination. Can't please all the people....

I think that might be because more of the enthusiasts like the loco haulled things more at a guess though! (as all except for 3 pictures are loco haulled), I think there are a good selection of pictures but I choose no 3, because It looks like the better one in my opinion.

Quite a few good ones this week - 2 is an interesting one due to the angle (maybe it think its playing hide and seek!!!) and 3 is quite atmonpheric
My vote goes to 11 this week (I have seen this one before somehwere...) which I like photographically for having a fast moving background but a perfectly still, crisp image of the train and with the angle it is at I think it looks really good

A few good shots this week. For me best are numbers 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 shows nice old school stock and are proper railway pictures, in my opinion of course .
Anyway Im going with 11 this week. Thats the perfect example of picture which shows moving object and its speed. Well done!

Oh deary me, it's unheard of for two disqualifications on one week. Everyone else had better be on their best behaviour now.

Compared to normal there have been loads of disqualifications recently. I think people may need to familiarise themselves with the rules!

I was stunned to see this as well. I remember you saying that it had only happened once before a few weeks ago, and when that one of the ScotRail 15x unit was submitted - the "mistake" one where the guy entered the wrong one by mstake and provided an edited shot - I had assumed that that would be the end of it. Obviously not. In fact, and call this killjoy -like if you will, I think that perhaps the competition needs a week off to allow everyone to have a "breather" and for you and others to revise the rules as necessary?

Why do they need revising?
They're fine, and normally there are no disqualifications. There's a whole week between competitions, and it definately doesn't take that long to read the rules.

Tbh, I think you're taking it a little too seriously.

I think some are taking the two disqualifications a bit too seriously. While I cant speak for the chap that voted for his own picture, the picture of the class 90 at Manningtree was mine. It was a complete oversight on my part as I mis-read the topic requirement and as soon as I realised (after reading Curly42's post), I immediately PM'ed Jordy to request my entry either be removed or disqualified.

There was nothing sinister at all in it and as I said, it was a genuine error so can we please get on with the competition?

Indeed, the one with the 156 was also explained as a mistake, and I'd guess it's probably also the case for the other diqualification this week (I've almost voted for my own a couple of times by mistake, but double checked the numbers first)

I voted for number 7. I would have voted for number 10 but it was disqualified. If it wasnt I would have voted for that one with no second thoughts!
