Considering the vast scope of entries I'm disappointed overall with the standard of photos. My vote lies with number 7, a wonderfully captured scene recreating a golden era for freight by rail. I'm afraid that 2,5 and 8 are particularly difficult on the eye, sorry if this upsets any of the takers but it's how I see it.

I quite like the idea of number 2,although it would work a lot better,I feel,if at least one of the trains was slightly blurred, maybe just enough to give the impression of movement.Obviously quite a difficult shot to set up if both trains are moving,as the slower shutter speed then allows both trains to blur.
Now I need to go and find two freight trains, one of them at a stand,in a station,in nice sunny weather, and I need to use a tripod,on a station platform - oh dear !!

Yeh Regarding your tripod use I would recomnend that you see that Station Staff (Where Apricable) on the day when you intend to use it inorder for them to be aware that you are there and using your tripod therfore there should be no problem.

If no station staff then give the BTP a call and make them aware of you and your useof a tripod I knwo its aginst the By Laws but you should ok to be excused if you make them aware of you and not be in the way of or nusnce to any person using the railway.

As ever, my entry is hopelessly outclassed :|

7 and 12 are both superb photos, in my book, but ultimately I'll go for 7. If 12 has a weakness (and in all honesty I'm not sure it does!) it feels a little cramped. 7 is near-perfect, though.
