Some excellent shots this week - I very much enjoyed nos. 1, 5, and 8, each of which shared a kind of 'into the distance' theme. 8 is excellent, with the dust from the Pendolino highlighted by the setting sun, 5 too is pretty good - gorgeous sky, and lovely framing of the semaphores.

No. 1 features possibly the worst stock running on our railways today. However, in the circumstances, that doesn't seem to matter at all. I keep returning to it for another look - it's a superb shot. I love the old '40' speed limit in the foreground, and the gorgeous array of semaphore signals in the middle distance, combining with the one in the foreground to frame the train. What I enjoy most, though, is the sheer sense of distance given by the rails (and their slight dip) running into the distance, with the tiny train running along them. Definitely my favourite this week.

Some great shots this week, and for such a narrow topic as opposed to the free for all.

I like both of the shots at Barnetby, although No 1 seems a bit too light and blue in the sky for a true sunset. It is a difficult kind of shot to pull off though and in the end I have voted for No 8 the Pendolino for the good sunset and good composition. That said a tad of straightenening would make it even better as it contains so many vertical lines.

8 - old, long standing atmosphere with a piece of modern day slammed into the forefront. Lovely.
