I’ve often seen these buses in Sussex, particularly East Sussex. Do Compass mainly do the council routes that Brighton and Hove presumably don’t want to do?

It’s good to see an independent operator having a share in routes, does the company do a lot of routes around Sussex and Surrey? Anyone travelled on their buses ? Perhaps from a staff point of view it’s better than working for the national companies?

Compass cover a wide operating area with a mixture of tendered and commercial work. I know they used to operate a service in on behalf of Stagecoach complete with vehicles in Stagecoach livery. I think that was in Worthing.

I use to deal with them regularly and always found them friendly and helpful.

I used to take their buses to school and they were the most clapped out, filthy old heaps you could imagine. It was rare to go a week without a breakdown, and they had a huge turnover of drivers, so we had some (occasionally substantial) detours on the way to school.

I have used them in Surrey, modern clean pleasant buses, friendly drivers.
I believe that in this part of the world they work on tendered routes, with very little in the way of late evening or Sunday workings - so may make them a popular choice for for Drivers.

Worthing-based Compass Travel has received four new Enviro200 single-deckers from Alexander Dennis (ADL) for use on its Surrey Hills Xplorer service.

The 10.8m-long vehicles are powered by Euro VI engines with stop-start technology and come with next-stop audio and visual announcements, Wi-Fi and USB charging for all 40 seats. They are part of an order of nine, with five 30-seaters to follow this autumn

They've also taken on quite a few later model Enviro 200 classics in recent years. I'm not sure in what area or time period @aar0 used them, but at the moment they do seem to be largely doing a good job in my opinion. I've not experienced too much of an obvious driver issue in the Surrey and West Sussex area routes I tend to use. I know some of their duties are particularly lengthy but, unlike some competitors, they do make a point of paying from start to finish, as opposed to some local operators who may have you on a 12 hour shift but once breaks and longer gaps between journeys are removed you end up only paid for maybe 9.5 hours. That said, they do seem to have a permanent advert for drivers for all their depots (Worthing, Lewes and Dunsfold) on their website.

Yep that's right - PVR on Monday to Friday is about 75 or 76, whilst PVR on Sunday is 5 - all from Lewes Garage.
