Commercial Guard SWT

Hi everyone,

I have been reading some posts on here for the past few weeks after applying for 2 Commercial Guard roles at SWT (One at Basingstoke, the other at Farnham).

I am new to the industry and I was wondering if anyone can answer a few questions...

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I have a good chance of actually getting the job? I have been a flight attendant for a large airline for the last 10 years and the roles seem to match perfectly, however I cannot seem to be slightly cynical and think to myself that these roles most probably will go internally, and maybe I have shot slightly too high? Do SWT generally offer opportunities of promotion to their guards?

Also I have noticed that Southern are recruiting trainee Drivers, and I was wondering if I even have a shot at getting a job there?

To be honest you have a great chance BUT all TOC's do like to recruit internally and a lot of people within have also applied for the role. Firstly you will have to go to Southampton and do assessments and if you pass you will be invited for an interview. If you pass you will be required to do a medical which is based at London Waterloo and then training is based at Basingstoke which is for 4 weeks on a full time basis. No I haven't heard from them yet, my applications are still showing as 'new'.
