Collecting from TVM when no card has been used

How does one collect prepaid tickets from a TVM when the method of payment was PayPal with no card involved?

Just insert any card and proceed as normal. The card won't get charged.

Yep, that's how I get my train tickets that have been booked and paid for by work, just so long as the card is in your name.

Any method where the exact card information isn't sent across to the retailer e.g. Apple/Google/Samsung Pay, PayPal etc. is set to any card collection.

With some machines even a nectar card will do the job if its set to any card collection.

The purpose of inserting a card in a TVM is to record who collected the tickets, not necessarily confirm that it's the same person who paid for them (though it can be in some cases). It's not linked to the actual payment as such.
