Thinking of going to the races at Haydock tomorrow. Ideally want to get to Newton Le Willows for midday, leaving about 5:30. Think I saw an off-peak fare for the above route for £38 I think, but now can't get the National Rail Enquiries site to return anything.

Can someone advise what my route and fare options are and whether there are any splits / rangers that might reduce cost. Appreciate I'm very unlikely to get any advance this late and there is the risk of the weather so walk on preferred.

Also - does anyone know how easy it is to get from Newton Le Willows to the racecourse.

I'm sure you can get that cheaper.

Coleshill to Birmingham N St CDR is £5.10
Rugby to Liverpool L St Super Off Peak Return via London Midland Only is £16
Liverpool to Newton Le Willows CDR is £4.40

Total = £25.50

Newton-Le-Willows is fairly close to Haydock Park and is walkable if you know exactly where your going (about a mile/mile n half). But the booking office at Newton has a list of local taxi numbers on their service window. Taxi shouldn't be more than a fiver. HTH

Don't bother with changing at Crewe - change at Warrington instead, you may even save a bit but I doubt.

Oh - this was for yesterday! Whoops!
