Colchester to St Pancras

Morning

I need some advice on routes and fares for a trip to St Pancras next week. 2 adults are travelling and we have to go at set times due to catching the Eurostar. No railcards, off peak return the next day if possible.

Wednesday 27th April
Colchester 6.35am
Arrive Stratford 7.15am

Stratford 7.27am
Arrive Stratford International 7.32am

Stratford International 7.37am
Arrive St Pancras 7.43am

It says on the National Rail website that more than 1 ticket will be needed for the outbound journey, can anyone clarify? Which is the best ticket price I can hope to achieve considering it is peak time travel?

The return journey will be approx 8.30pm the following day.

A ticket from Colchester to London Terminals (2x single=£48.20) is not valid on the HS1 service from Stratford to St Pancras. A Colchester to Zone U1 ticket (2x single=£54.20) would allow you to go to Stratford/Liverpool Street and use the Underground from there to St Pancras.

You could buy a single to Stratford, a single from Stratford International to St Pancras, a single from St Pancras to Stratford International and a single from Stratford to Colchester for £56.20.

ring up Eurostar on 01233 617913 and buy a ticket to London International (CIV)

Yes - definitely get a ticket to London International! This has additional benefits as it means you are guaranteed onward travel from London in accordance with CIV rules, in the event of disruption on your journey to London.

Present your Eurostar ticket at a ticket office and you can get a Euro High Saver Return Colchester - London International for £35.20 each, which includes use of the London Underground. It will be valid for a next day return at any time.

This fare does appear on journey planners if you enter Colchester to London St Pancras via Stratford International.

You need to use St Pancras as the destination, not 'London stations.'

Ah, Yorkie, just seen your post. So, it should the trains to London be delayed and I miss our connection at St Pancras, we would be able to get a later train at no extra cost despite having non-transferable Eurostar tickets?

Correct.

This has happened to a friend of mine before, just go to the Eurostar customer services desk at StP and they'll book you on the next available train (on production of your unused Eurostar ticket and CIV ticket obviously )
