Colchester to Ipswich Guidance

Hello all,

My daughter requires a return ticket from Colchester to Ipswich, Mon to Wed peak times, term time only. She is 16 and will be a student commuting from home to college.

Does anyone have any advice on best ticket and/or railcard to purchase for this regular please? I can see different railcard options but would really appreciate some expert guidance please.

16-25 railcard will be £12 for an Anytime Day Return each day. The discounted fare would be £11:75 but there’s a £12 minimum fare before 10.01 which I assume would apply.

There may be better options.

A 16-17 saver railcard is a better option. Fare is then 50% of the adult day return. No minimum fares apply or time restrictions. Apply online only and have the railcard on her phone.

She would be eligible for a 16-17 Saver railcard, which can also be used for season tickets, giving 50% off.

£8:85 anytime day return, £114.45 monthly season I think, yes, with the 16-17 railcard

A Flexi-season (8 days in 28) is £61.95 with the 16-17 Saver.
