Just had a look, this is for grinders so totally different terms and conditions to freight. Training wage for freight now is 30k ish.Is this for freight, or for infrastructure monitoring?
I can only speak for the freight side of things, but shifts can vary wildly as freight is a 24/7 operation. Rest day patterns also vary depending on region but for myself it’s 2 long weekends, and a mon-fri off over 4 weeks.
Training salary was around 28k, rising to around 72k with core routes and traction signed off.
Also bear in mind that Colas drivers are classed as mobile workers. We don’t have a depot as such, but are based from home and given a company vehicle to get to and from our rostered place of work.
Grinder Drivers are UK wide with shifts usually being 2 weeks on 1 off with lots of lodging. Drivers will usually pick up operating especially if your route card is smaller. Idk pay rates but they're lower than Tamper OTM salaries with a bonus package relating to safety and shift completions that puts you on par.Has anyone got any information on Colas rail, specifically the shifts, training salary and qualified salary. Thanks
sorry this is such a late reply to your message, are you required to lodge away from home often as a freight driver in rugby or do you tend to go home after a shift? Is this for freight, or for infrastructure monitoring?

Did you ever get a response to this ? I am also interested and have posted on a few threads but I haven’t had any replies so farI recently commented on a Colas thread and there's no responses there so will ask here.
Can anyone shed light on pay/shift lengths/likely rota options/pension (I know new entrants can't join the DB pension currently) and other useful things to know for IM drivers?
Got a couple interviews lined up hence asking,
Thanks
