I have recieved the email, except they have forgotten to attached the practice documents and have not supplied me with the address for the asessment centre so I have sent an email back to them.

I have requested to attend the morning session which starts at 08:00 rather than the afternoon session starting at 12:00.

Seems if we are sucessful we will be based at Westbury or Hoo Junction

Did you have any attachments to your email then?

Colas have sent me another emailing with the attachement and the address for the asessment centre:

De Vere Village Swindon
Shaw Ridge Leisure Park
Whitehill Way
Swindon
Wiltshire
SN5 7DW.

Doesnt seem like you can get from Swindon Railway station to anywhere near the asessment centre by public transport so looks like I am driving up from Bridgend.
I just hope my fiat punto is up to the job since I only got it back yesterday after having the electrics repaired.

I've been invited for the psychometric test on the 23rd October also, I was quite shocked how quickly they replied to the application.

Could be a long wait to be honest mate, there are several guards at my depot alone who have passed the assessments and interviews and are waiting for driving vacancies as and when they appear.

Hi everyone, I have just had a scary thought. Someone mentioned if successful it may be Westury or Hoo junction. When I first applied for this position, didnt the advert say SE and SW of England. I have noticed that ad has been taken off their website early but another one appeared stating Westbury and Hoo Junction, so i'm thinking have they made a mistake and realised there is NOT any vacancies for the SE. Is anyone in the know on this.

Just a thought I had, don't know whether not anyone can answer this.

If I was to take the tests, pass and get through the interview, etc. and was offered a job but for some reason was unable to accept, would another TOC view that as a good thing or would they still want to do the tests again.

I have just realised where Hoo Junction is, Kent, so I would imagine thet was the SE part of the ad.Sorry.

If you have passed the tests it will be kept on the database so if you then applied to another TOC they will be able to find out your results.

As for your other que am not sure, I do think some TOC's might be a bit reluctant if you have had a offer and have turned it down. However if you had a very good excuse at the time and can prove that it wont affect you this time then I presume they may give you a chance.

Thanks for the info. I'm not saying I would just reject an offer without good reason. Was just wondering what the position would be

Does anybody know if they are doing the new psychometric tests? The email I received is somewhat inconclusive, but the attachment does suggest something different to the current norm.

Does anyone have any incite in to this company as an employer? I have read mixed reviews and am trying to get a feel for whether they are worth the time and effort of the application process.

Anyone with experience or know of someone with experience that can comment??

Regards.

Down the Line!
I have also got an assessment for Colas on the 23rd but having looked through the PDF that has been sent through there is no practice material as such, just the RSSB document on the new tests and what they are.

When I did an assessment earlier this year I had practice material to work with but with this there is none.

The document also appears to suggest that a full assessment would last a day but this is not how Colas seem to be doing it, they are splitting the day in two and performing two rounds of tests for two different groups of people. Maybe not all of the tests will be used??

Has anyone heard back to say they haven't been successful? Or is just just another company that doesn't bother? Only I haven't heard anything back and I'm guessing that's probably bad news as so many people have already been given their assessment dates.

More likely a company that doesn't think it prudent to employ an army of admin/HR staff just so that once every 5 years they can quickly trapse the thousands of applications and subsequent emails when 2 vacancies arise....

Size of admin team is irrelevant. If all applications are considered as they should be if it is done fairly, then a simple yes or no reply does not take an ARMY of admin staff.

Have also been invited for assessment on the 23rd, and also feel like I have very little information about the whole thing. A big question for me at the moment is, if I get the job (big if), where would the training be located?
