There have been quite a few negative comments on here about Colas as an employer - although I'm not sure if they were from ex-employees or not.

Id make your own mind up if you get the job there everyone has different opinions

Personally I enjoyed working with some of the people (drivers and some office staff)
I wouldn’t ever return to Colas as an employee but that’s just my view,
like I said everybody is different,

Tony*1 totally agree I liked the job worked with some good people there shame about the t&c's and the extra add-ons to the job as the management would say company needs.

I’m currently a Colas employee and also applied for the role internally and heard nothing back!

Not sure how long you have worked there,
Colas did a restructure last year and changed the whole recruitment team and process and tbh it’s been crap ever since they are non responsive and generally can’t give you any answers when you do manage to get in touch, kind of sums up the whole Hr team
From top to bottom really,
The recruitment team that were there before were brilliant but can’t say the same anymore unfortunately!

Have they actually taken any trainee drivers on at all in the last 2 campaigns? What are they like as a company outside of the HR department?

Do freight drivers get TOC discount cards or FIP passes?
No, not unless they're safeguarded. The most you'll get is a duty all TOC pass, which allows you to travel on trains not operated by your TOC or FOC in order to carry-out operational duties. So this basically means if your diagram is pass from AtoB to work a train, and it's not on your own TOC's service, you're allowed to pass. Only (in theory) valid with a supporting diagram.
Not valid for commuting

Oh well that's reassuring!

That’s just my opinion,
Everybody has a different view and I would suggest you take each view with a pinch of salt and make you own opinion,

I’ve expressed before on here I would never work there again I’d rather be jobless,
But then I’ve met some of the nicest people I know who work there / did work there,

I'm curious if anyone has heard anything? This is the fourth time I have applied for Colas and not heard a thing?
