Hi all and a Happy New year!

I'm not sure if there's a thread on this, I have done a forum search and can't find one, but I do recall talking about it here somewhere? I was just looking at Colas' website and my 'portal' from when I applied for Trainee Driver on 21 November. I forgot all about it to be honest but have seen they're still advertising for my chosen depot now. I've not heard anything at all, has anybody else who applied here heard anything about this?

There's so many threads knocking about I'm not sure who has applied for what, or indeed which threads I've posted in. My brain hurts :lol:

Strange one this stigy a company who have lost a lot of its yellow plant workforce through retirement and moving to other freight companies some more will be leaving in the new year it's hard to believe that progress through recruitment is so slow if I can find out anymore I'll let you know.

Great, thanks...anybinfo you can get the better!

I’m not sure if one campaign closed and this is a new one? Seems strange they’d do this as one would assume they’d have loads of potential candidates in a matter of a few days/weeks so wouldn’t be a need to readvertise?

Likewise, one would think they’d not ordinarily need to keep a vacancy open for so long anyway? Does seem strange. If it’s readvetised I’d assume I’ve been unsuccessful.

It is just for Eastleigh apparently, which I find strange? I didn’t realise when I first checked because I was solely searching for that location anyway. Seems strange to just have recruitment for one depot for trainees unless they have recently closed adverts for everywhere else and Eastleigh didn’t have the numbers they wanted?

There's quite a lot of work for Colas at Eastleigh coming up very soon, hence the need for trainee drivers.

Still not heard anything regarding the outcome of my JD interview. I emailed them in Wednesday and got an auto reply back about vacancies now being closed. I emailed the address I used before when the vacancies were open so I’m not even sure it’s monitored now. They did say not to expect to hear until the new year mind you.

I can't find any mention of pay in the advert - which uses the words Trainee and Apprentice in it? Any ideas?

No mention of a maximum travelling time to the depot either - is that because its UK mobile I wonder?

Give them a call mate, they have a course starting next week so I imagine they're tied up with finalising that and cstchcat up from Xmas. Do you need a number?

I actually emailed the wrong email (whoops), and I’ve since used the correct one haha. I’ll givebit a couple of days but if you could pass me the number that would be good? Happy New Year! And I’ve just realised, I replied to the wrong thread haha.

I believe Colas have Apprentice drivers rather than trainees. Same thing although it’s a recognised qualification I guess? That’s why there’s a need for GCSEs, however from what I’ve heard, it’s not particularly strict in that respect. Not sure on salary, and U.K. mobile means you start from where they need you and they allow travelling time? (I think).

I certainly haven't, but there again its not long since I applied - and of course there's been Christmas and the New Year in-between

What I would advise it to keep an eye on your spam email folder with Colas. I think one of the first confirmation emails ended up there. It’s nit happened to me before, even with auto generated emails.
