Colas Loco Types?

I haven't been on the forum in a little while, so if someone has already asked this question and I may have missed it then I do apologize. From what I know Colas operate 47's, 56's, 66's and 70's but people now say that they have bought some 37's (which I think is great) has this happened and why? and do they have the work for all there loco's or are they going to sell others to make room or are one class not doing as well as they thought or do they think there are new contracts for them to operate?

They have bought 4 37s and there is a new contract for them, they wont replace any other locos.

Colas are expanding very quickly and i hope it sustains, nice to see a new player who is challenging the standard ones. DRS are trying to expand too.

They have rumoured won some biomass contracts and some of the NR infrastructure trains too.

that would be nice, maybe a few 58's and then change the colour scheme to two tone grey with some rather odd looking logos on the side, that would bare no resemblance to what trains they would end up working :lol:

Also what contract is the work for, and what will the 70's be doing or are they just going to sit there being repaired constantly :roll:

so the 37's are for the infrastructure trains and the 70's for the biomass work?

I don't think they (Colas) has confirmed what the 70s will exactly be used for, but I imagine Colas will be more aggressive in bidding for contracts in the future.

bidding is what they will have to do so they can keep the locos all in use, however i'm sure they could spot hire the 66/8's off to GBRF as they need them if they ever got short of funds to pay leasing cost's, although i dont think they would need to.

they need to find some new contracts, won from road hauliers and put onto rail so that they wouldn't have to compete with DBS, F'liner & etc... yet, also I think mail trains wouldn't be a bad idea for them to try and tempt back onto rail

Will the 70's be maintained by freightliner under contract as they already maintain them at midland road or will they be maintained at cardiff canton as they repaired 70801(70099) there
