Be interesting to find out if any planning permission notices were put up in the area as I expect many of the locals will be most displeased - let alone us photographers. Only just arrived in the area and they ruin a lovely spot.
Once again, a small number of people cause problems (trespassers, in this case) and loads of people are punished as a result, while no action is ever taken against purpetrators.
This fence is a form of vandalism, and I'd like to see the people who put up the fence face a court charged with that! Is this fence really going to stop someone determined to get onto the line? No - because they'd just go somewhere else! What's next, the Dawlish sea wall?!

I don't think that Network Rail runs the railways for photographers, just find it a waste of money which could put into opening a new line...

Whats the Percentage of delayed trains due to trespassers and or vandalism in the Cockwood Habour area? I'll tell you... Low to none.

The fence wasnt made for that though , for safety of track workers.

I can't see how it makes the workers safer. If they're on the track, surely a fence only keeps them closer to the passing trains?

How does it save damage to the trains may i ask?
its to stop them falling down the embankment into the harbour, nowt to do with trespassing, just a H&S chap wrote it into the safety case of the work being done there.

Eh??? They've managed perfectly well upto now, got nothing to do with safety. It's like saying at my work (I work in DIY), 'Oh, we are going to put barriers & fencing across the racking, to stop bags of cement, sand, gravel etc., falling on customers! I don't think so! lol Also, it's not as if there's engineers roaming the area every weekend of the year. It's ridiculous. They're probably doing it because of the kids tresspassing on the line. Also, it wouldn't surprise me they're doing it out of spite as well, knowing full well the popularity of the area for photography.

It IS alot to do with safety matey!
When a work job comes up whether on road,building site railway or wherever a 'method statement' has to be written, part of it is written about your safety considerations, THAT fence will have been part of that
A fence of that type is not going to stop kids walking on the line is it???! and they've got better things to do than put a fence up just to **** off a couple of photographers! come on wake up!!!

Throwin things, water kickin up stuff like that, never spent my life evaluating the area so just giving a general comment about things like this by all means give the 5 paragraph evaluation. Love it when "the perfect world squad" comes into force without a hint of reality on the side.
There's a reason for everything and spotters are by no means the top thing on their list to worry about making happy. Why waste a few quid with a goal to tick a few spotters n co off?
