Cochem - Kaiser Wilhelm Tunnel

Does anyone know if the new tunnel has got through to Cochem yet? Breakthrough seemed to imminent in May this year but I have seen no news recently.

At the beginning of August they were half a kilometer away from Cochem Oberstadt. Tunneling under the under the old town will have to be done with great care in order to prevent damage to the properties. For this reason the progress will be reduced to between 5 and 10 meters / day. This will take place throughout September.

You can check on progress via this website which shows currently that 3627 of the 4242 meters have been accomplished.

Since 17 Aug the drilling maschine stopped while undergoing maintenance for 2-3 weeks. The above website's own estimate shows that the breakthrough should be towards the end of November.
