at a toy fayre recently i saw a set of coaches someone had thrown together as an unboxed rake which consisted of 4 TSO's and two brake coaches. and recently on ebay i bought someone's rake of 5 virgin coaches which was 3 mk2 with again, 2 brake coaches. is there something with running models where it's normal to have two? one you usually see on a real train, either at the end or next to the loco.

The former Anglia Mk2 sets had a Mk2 brake at each end, with the one at the London end being a 1st class coach. This pre-dates even push-pull working with Cl86's and DBSO's.
