Coach emptied to move disruptive passengers

Here’s an interesting one, I’m on an Avanti service to London Euston via Birmingham. From Lancaster onwards it’s become quite busy with a fair amount of people boarding - most going to football

A group of people boarded the coach I was in, going to Reading, and were chanting football related stuff, slamming tables, drinking beers etc.

It didn’t really bother me, but while we were at Crewe, the TM told that group to move to the next carriage. After we left Crewe he’d told some people sitting next to me that he’d emptied the next coach by moving the passengers to SP and got all of the people going to football who want to chant and whatever to move into that carriage so that they can do it there without bothering others

Pretty solid idea if you ask me, and proactive from the TM. Never seen it happen before so I wonder if it’s a normal thing.

At least I can have a peaceful journey now

It’s not unknown. I once had half a dozen people on a late evening journey intent on loud music and dancing in the aisles. It was all good natured, but there was an empty carriage at the back so I sent them down there so the other passengers could get home in peace.
