Is there an age limit on learning to be a PCV driver and passing out?

Would a 55 year old get a driver's job with a coach company, or do you need to get local driving miles under your belt?

I like the idea of being a coach driver / holiday manager in the UK or Europe. Just wondered if that boat has sailed due to my age?

No upper age limit as such as long as you're medically fit to do it.

From a personal point of view I'd recommend trying a bit of service work first to get a bit of experience in first, but that's up to you.

Skills train drivers that go straight on to coach work (or they have done).

In my experience drivers tend to be Bus or Coach ... it's very rare that the two strains mix.
If you are serious, it may be better to organise your own training ... there is an expense, but after passing out you are not tied to one employer (potentially for a year or more).
There is also the need for a driver Certificate of Professional Competance ... 35 hours of additional training, mainly classroom based.
If you intend to do Continental work, there is (I think) additional training as well.
It's not an easy process to go through, and possibly up to £5k in cost. Having said all that, you'll never be short of a job ... there are always vacancies!! If you like driving, and enjoy finding new places, it can be a great job .... coaching wasn't for me, as I like routine; you will seldom know your duties more than a couple of days in advance.
