Club 50 and BoJ

Without giving too much away, I am now eligible for ScR's Club 50 promotion. The terms and conditions of the £17 special return fare currently being offered appear to rule out BoJ, other than for interchange purposes. But since the tickets appear to be valid on any train (within time limitations), is this rule actually enforced?!!

I can't answer the question for you, but I would opine that since that you would be uploading the ticket to your Club 50 Smartcard, it's highly unlikely that the card would work on the barriers at the interchange without manual intervention anyway, so staff might pick it up if you are attempting a break of journey which is not actually permitted.
Scotrail Smartcard helpline staff have admitted to me that there are known issues with interchanges and legitimate BoJ and have advised me to keep the booking confirmation handy to show 'if' (I would say 'when') there are problems.
