I don't think this is new, but its recently updated :
A Google Earth plug-in showing disused railway lines in the UK
You need to have Google Earth installed first, then get the plug-in file "Closed UK Railways.kmz" from the link at the foot of this (long) posting on this Google Forum:- http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=1058469&site_id=1#import
There's lots of lines not on this (yet) but it might be helpful.
