OK - how about a little jaunt from the open station at Manchester Victoria to the open station at York, but via the ex L. & Y. line through the Calder Valley and Normanton?

We go via the Cheetham Hill loop to avoid the congestion up Miles Platting Bank, so the first closed station is Newton Heath

I have a leg running downwards from the open station of Crewe along the Welsh Marches line down to the open station of Newport.

My apologies..I had intended to give it its full name. I have now shown that entry with the full station name. I doubt if anyone would have known this but you, with your very good localised area knowledge

However, I did have another station in mind just after that one called Newcastle Crossing but such is the differences of opinion about this particular one that does not affect the naming of Willaston that was the station after it.
